The SCOTS shinty club finished up their shinty tour by going to the Camanachd Cup Final in Oban where they were presented to the crowd at halftime.  The Final was an excellent game which despite an incredible late comeback from 3-0 down, Kyles were squeezed out by a last minute goal from big James Clark, who until that point surely could claim the highlight of his shinty career was knowing the Lewis Camanachd legend that is Duncan Macintyre from their old Glengarry days.

The soldiers also played in Bute and Skye on their tour but they kicked it all of against the Leodhasaich in Stornoway on the 10th of September and a good day was had by all.

Our usual habit of losing early goals reached its usual heights of ridiculousness when we were 2-0 down after 2 minutes! But we kept it tight from then on (although Hector MacKenzie did sub off the “Honda” to stop him scoring anymore) and it was only 3-0.

The second half saw us move Tyson up front and this seemed to help bring Seumas and Paddy into the game more and although we lost four more goals in that half, Paddy got himself a cracking wee goal and we went close several times.

There were quite a few players missing due to holidays, university or boat trips with their boss but the young players who came into the side, Tich, Paddy, Seumas and Fraser Hearach all put in an excellent shift against some strong adult players.

Thanks to Iain Sinclair for all is fantastic preparation work (and great refereeing, bi faiceallach Iain or the Camanachd Association might hear about it) and to John Nally for taking the kids in the warm up for the youth game before hand which ended up 4-2 to the blues versus the yellows.

The Inverness Sixes was a possibility earlier this month but due to most of the big clubs not being finished yet there was no senior competition, so its roll on next season for the senior team.
