Keen eyed supporters will have noted that the club is only entered in one mainland cup competition this season – the newly renamed Chieftain’s Cup.

This tournament, formally known as the single team cup, was one the club welcomed after campaigning for such a competition for many years.

There may be a new name for the trophy, but it’s very familiar opposition in the shape of Glengarry, holders of the trophy and winners in 2023 as well. In both years we have been drawn at home to the Garry and on both occasions have lost out to the eventual cup winners.

The North Division One challengers gave us a very sound 10-0 thrashing (and the only real dark spot in a memorable season) in a fixture reversed to Craigard Park, Invergarry in 2023 but last year in Shawbost was a true cup epic with the Garry only escaping with a 5-3 win in injury time.

It’s another home draw this time, and with the summer timetable starting on 24th April, it means that we’ll again host the Garry in Lewis on Saturday 26th April with the winners facing a daunting quarter final trip to 2023 & 2024 beaten finalists Kilmory deep in Argyll.

That would be uncharted territory for the Dubh is Gorm, but first we’ll have to see if it’s third time lucky versus the cup favourites.
