After the disappointment of the Lochcarron game being cancelled due to weather, we were all looking forward to the Minch Cup for some much needed shinty action before the season started.
However, on Friday morning the MV Isle of Lewis had another of its ever more frequent breakdowns and was not due to be in Stornoway for Saturday morning.
Not to be deterred, Donald and Dukey managed to arrange a group discount with FlyBE through Roy Bogle and the BGT was prepped to sort out transport on the mainland side. Thanks for their assiatance.
Unfortunately, the weather took a slight turn for the worse and Lochbroom declared Inverlael unplayable and it was too late notice to get the game shifted to another venue. Always a disappointment to not get the Minch Cup played but we will face Lochbroom on March 15.
A great tribute to the unquenchable spirit of the club’s players that they were willing to go to such lengths to get the game played. Training has being going well recently, and the commitment that got the club into the leagues and has built up over the last three seasons is much in evidence.
It will be a strange feeling to have the season start next weekend without us in action, our first match away to Strathspey has been delayed by a week due to the unavailability of the Grantown side’s new park at Grantown Grammar School. We look forward to visiting their new ground on March 8th, throw-up will probably be around 1pm, if you are in the area pop down.
