This Saturday marks the second annual Craig Morrison Shinty sixes hosted by Lewis Camanachd. Last years tournament was a great success with teams from Lewis, Lochcarron, Skye and Lochbroom competing, and this year looks to be much the same with Lochcarron and other unconfirmed teams hoping to travel up.
Last years tournament had all teams playing against each other, with the top two teams battling it out at the end in a final showdown. The six a-side games are played for 15 minutes on a half sized pitch.
Lewis itself will be putting out at least an A team and a B team whilst also encouraging individuals such as the “veterans” that haven’t played in a while and also those who have never played the sport to come and participate in the fun with teams of their own. Sticks and bibs will be provided on the day for anyone wanting to enter a team.
Players are asked to be at Bayhead for 1.00pm with the tournament beginning at 2.00pm. Come along for a great day of shinty!
Good luck in your final home game against Inverness.
You’ve certainly made our Saturday afternoons interesting this summer with trips to Shawbost. Feared the worst during first 20 mins against Cabers as they were the most skillful team I’ve seen at Shawbost yet – but the change in the second half with Paul Duke pushing forward led to the best 30 min spell of midfield control from Lewis that I’ve seen this year. Something to think about for next season guys !!!
