It has been a busy winter for the club regards youth – so it was great to see the fruits of our labours as a club and in association with primary schools and Active Schools last week.
On the Thursday, Sgoil an Rubha came together with Stornoway Primary for a morning of mixed games and drills. This was very successful day with coaches from the club assisting Active Schools’ Eric MacLeod in running the competition. All players were given a certificate of participation. Sgoil nan Loch and Sgoil na Pairce will be holding a similar day in the near future.
On the Saturday, David Morrison of Lewis Wind Power came to the Saturday training to gift a set of strips to the youth team. These strips were of course “Dubh is Gorm” and we can’t wait to see them in use for competitions on and off-island. Thanks to LWP for their support and Gordon MacRae for the pictures.
The parents have set up a small committee to run a youth event on May 7th before the Kilmallie game. This will showcase the youngsters before the first home game of the season.
